Subscription models

Old Testament Essays (New Series) follows from 2016 three publishing models: (a) the traditional print model for libraries and individual subscribers wishing a printed copy of the journal (this option also allows for free online access to the journal itself on the Sabinet SA ePublications website); (b) an online subscription model managed by Sabinet’s SA ePublications where the journal is made available with selected South African theological journals at a particular price as set by Sabinet; and (c) open access to the journal on the SciELoSA portal without any cost.

Option 1: Open Access (freely available)

OTE  is also now part of the ScieloSA platform which provides free (open) access to the electronic version of the journal since 2014 (volume 27). There is no fee applicable in this instance.

Option 2: Electronic access via Sabinet

OTE is part of the package of theological journals that Sabinet offers against a fee. Those who subscribe to option 3 (print) also have access to OTE (but not to the other theological journals) on this portal for free, but you will need a username and a password provided by the editor.

The fee structure here is determined by Sabinet.

The earliest issues of the OTSSA as well as all the issues of OTE up to 2000 are available for free on Sabinet’s African Journal Archive. All issues from 2001 are freely available on Sabinet when you have electronically subscribed under this option.

Option 3: Print

OTE is still being printed and available to libraries and individual members.

The various fees for the printed editions can be found below.

All those who have a subscription for the printed edition of Old Testament Essays as well as all OTSSA members with up-to-date membership fees have automatic electronic access to the printed edition on the Sabinet portal via a userid and a password distributed by the editor. To obtain the userid and password the editor should be contacted at the beginning of the year.
